Start Off The New Year Focused On Prayer
December 30, 2017
Once again, the Foursquare Gospel Church of Canada is beginning the New Year with a commitment to fast and pray. From January 8th to 14th , President Steve Falkiner is inviting our churches to unite in this time of concentrating on Jesus and prayer. With the increasing busyness of our lives, he senses an ever-growing need to pull back in order to free up time and focus our hearts.
Cornerstone is specifically responding by focusing this time of prayer and fasting to draw near to the Lord. We are not trying to 'get' something from God, but rather we are 'giving' ourselves to Him, thorugh prayer, fasting, dedication and surrender. Romans 12:1 instructs us to present our lives before Him, as a living sacrifice, which is our spiritual act of worship. We are not only responding to the call of our Foursquare president to fast and pray, but to the Lord's invitation found in Psalm 27:8 "When You said, “Seek My face,”My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
Would you consider setting aside time during the week of January 8th to 14th for this purpose? Our times of prayer and fasting over this past year have been fruitful and we are anticipating what God will do as we start the year this way. On Wednesday, January 10th, at the midway point of this designated week, we will come together at 7pm to pray. This bi-weekly time of prayer has become an integral part of who we are at Cornerstone Church.
For those who would like to engage in a longer period of fasting and prayer, the Global Foursquare Church is beginning 21 days of fasting and prayer on January 1. You can subscribe to their devotions and reminders at:
